Update...finally

Hey everyone, sorry for the delay between posts. We've been all over the place and I haven't had time to update the blog. Amanda and I are still enjoying our time away from work, though we are getting itchy to get started on our first position. We'll have more details about that in the next post though. Stay tuned.

This past Sunday through Monday we went to Leesburg, VA to see my cousin Erin and her husband Justin. We had an awesome time. After hanging out at their home, we went to 4 vineyards, a brewery, then watched a movie on their spectacular home theatre, and the next day Erin took us for a tour of the town. Not bad for only being there about 24 hours. It was our first time visiting them there and I've gotta say that they have an awesome setup, and showed us a really great time.

It was sad to leave so quickly, but since they both had to work on Tuesday, we headed east to Rehoboth Beach, DE. Amanda's parents own a great place on the bay and we stayed there from Monday through Friday. It's a tough life we lead right now. We spent our days playing disc golf at Cape Henlopen State Park, going down to the beach to enjoy 70 degree weather, and meeting up with our friends Ryan and Nina who live in southern DE.

We also caught up on a lot of movies, 6 in all, and highly recommend Contagion and The King's Speech. Amanda loved The Descendants, but I got a little bored with that one. You can decide for yourself. I'll also throw out there that we saw The Grey about 2 weeks ago and just tonight we watched The World's Fastest Indian, with both of them being excellent.

After a fantastic week at the beach, we got to spend some time with my family as we stayed a night at my sister and brother-in-law's place. Our neice Kiera, who is a little over a year old, is the happiest kid ever. It was a lot of fun playing with her and watching her antics, especially her interactions with their cat Tully.

Now we are back at our home base in Lancaster. We've got a few more people to see and lot's more planning to be done. Amanda is all about making lists of things to do. Unfortunately though, I feel like we don't even finish checking things off one list before she has a new one started.

That's all we've got for now. I'll let the suspense keep building about where we are ending up on our first travel destination. Don't worry, we aren't leaving yet, but there is some semblance of a plan forming. I think.

First Post!

Here we go...The official start to our travel blog. Game on! This is where we will chronicle our adventures as travelling physical therapists. Over the next two years we plan to go all over the country and we hope this blog will let us keep our family and friends up to date with where we are and what we are doing. We also encourage everyone to comment as much as you like.

Right now we are just taking some time off before we start travelling PT. We should be starting our new jobs at the end of this month or the beginning of March. There's no official word yet, but for now we are just enjoying some time off.

Our first adventure this past week was a whirlwind trip. First we went to the Funk's lake house in Huntington Mills, PA (west of Wilkes-Barre) to spend some time with Amanda's family. This was followed by a trip to NYC to see our friends Sue and Jesse, as well as my cousin Kerry. Finally we returned to the Wilkes-Barre area to see my friend KC. Lots of driving, but it was worth it.
The Funky lake house
Thursday we got to the lake house, which is a nice little A-frame house built by Amanda's grandfather. Friday and Saturday were spent snowboarding and skiing at Sno Mountain and Elk Mountain respectively. I fell off of a jump at Sno and hit my head pretty hard. Luckily I was wearing my helmet, so it spared the few brain cells I have left. Saturday was great as it was snowing at Elk and conditions were perfect.

Monday we went to New York City, my least favorite place on earth, to see my friend Sue, Amanda's friend Jesse, and my cousin Kerry was a last minute addition to the party. Getting into the city was awful, as is every trip into NYC, but we survived and had a great time hanging out with everyone.

After NYC (thank God that's over), we went back to the Wilkes-Barre area to see my friend KC for lunch and a whole whole whole lot of catching up (sorry KC we forgot to take a picture). It was easily a 2.5+ hour lunch, but a great way to end all the running around.

Now we are just relaxing at our home base in Lancaster and planning to go to Virginia next weekend to see my cousin Erin and her husband Justin.

This time off is really strange. It's awesome being able to travel around and see everyone, without having to worry about going to work. However, it is mind-boggling to think that when this "vacation" is over I'll be working in a whole new place, with all new people, doing Lord knows what. We don't even know where we are going to be yet. Delaware? Poconos? No idea. Such is the life we signed up for, I guess. As we know more we will keep you all posted. Thanks again for all of your support!
